After reading about web 2.0 and looking at blogs I do have to wonder whether I wish to have an open blog where I can air my thoughts. It is quite confronting to have these ideas posted for 'all to see'.
I do think the possibilities Blogging in education are endless and this is what I find exciting and a tool that will engage students in their learning. I am interested in providing material for my students to view and encourage blogging to occur.
Does anyone have any experiences with this as an educational tool.
It would now seem that my initial reservations are redundant as I am asking for views of others.

Our Southern region gifted network set up a writer's blog for gifted writers to go with writers workshops we ran. I would say there was mixed response. A few have used it quite a bit but others not at all. Part of the problem (as you will well know) is that feeling you are just talking to yourself. It was, however, a good way to record out experiences when we took (your) girls to Washington.
ReplyDeleteJudy McDonald (St Pats) uses blogs with her senior Legal studies class all the time and seems to find they work well. I imagine that they would work well if you set it as a homework task for them each to comment on your or each other's subject related blog because that would ensure they read it.
