Module 6

Mind mapping really is my thing. Bubble Us is user friendly and really helped organise my thoughts regarding web 2.0. It is a series of tools that can be used to engage deep learning in our students. The mind mapping tool is useful as it allows students to create their own or work on class room generated ones to create a narrative or response of some sort.

The glogster site is also very exciting and a great way to allow students to express their learnings in an artistic imaginative manner. I would use this as an activity for students and have them publish it in the wiki I have set up for all students to share and will be doing this with classes next term.

Voice thread is also an interesting idea where students really have to think about what they are to say - which is sometimes more difficult that just putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard.

Module 5

I really enjoy YouTube and iTunes and use both in the classroom and with large groups of students. Our school has had podcast demonstrations and this is a great opportunity to put it all together.
As part of a promotional tool for senior modern history at our school I put together a visual pod cast, which used voice over, music and still images. It was fun and a good way to share information. I am yet to try a vodcast - but that may be next on the list, or the students may be assigned this activity.
Youtube is a great source and I have used clips on many occasions in Modern History and Studies of Religion. Often the clip gets straight to the point and wastes little time. There are some wonderful prayers and reflections also in YouTube. Teacher Tube looks just as good to use also.
This aspect of the course Web 2.0 is probably my favourite so far.

Module 4 continued

I thought i was able to upload a photo.
I will try to show you a picture of my dog, Poppy.
I worked and she looks very cute.

Module 4

Flickr - looks to be a great place to find photos, that are copyright. I found a wonderful monument I visited in 2002 in washington DC and lost the photo. This memorial to Vietnam veterans was so life like and great to see again.

What I really like about flickr are the fun applications, including the books, but also the calendar and the individual cards, they would be really useful learning tools.

So much to learn, so many possibilities...

Module 3

Google Docs is a very useful tool and the video clips and atomic learning are great ways to learn. I have created a document on Google docs and shared it with a friend. Has great potential with students in a class room as do most of these interactive tools.
One factor I see as essential is need to have everything centralised, not google docs here, blogs there, wikis somewhere else. would be interested to hear if this is outdated or one should go with an application for a particular activity etc.

Module 2

I have not worked on web 2.0 for some time as school has been hectic etc. It really is amazing how ideas and practices change over this time. My year 12 classes have started to blog oneanother, i have also been taking part discussing aspects of their courses before the examinations begin.
It is a good way to have them more engaged with their learning and in particular learn from one another.
